Blood Orange Guava Mocktail

A summer mocktail with fresh citrus and fruit flavors, plus healthy probiotics!

Share

I love a good mocktail, and I think you guys are really going to like this one.

Many folks with diabetes don’t drink alcohol for good reason. When blood sugars are unbalanced, or you’re at risk for certain complications, it may be harder – though possible – to manage drinking alcohol.

For those who don’t want to indulge in alcohol, mocktails are a great option, and I came up with one that includes prebiotics, and the ingredients are also proven to make you happy!

This particular blend of flavors is a great one for summer. I could see myself making a big batch of this and then sipping it by the pool.

Using a carefully, cheerfully balanced blend of ashwagandha (an adaptogen that offers balance), saffron (Spanish for “Isn’t it a beautiful day?”) and 100% of your daily dose of D3, this sparkly mocktail not only tastes great, but is full of goodness.

The probiotic shot I used for this includes:

  • Organic blood orange juice
  • Organic pineapple juice
  • Organic vegan vitamin D3
  • Organic ashwagandha root
  • Organic saffron extract
  • 1 Billion CFU of probiotics

What are the benefits of probiotics?

There are many benefits of probiotics, and recent studies have shown that they can be especially beneficial for people with diabetes.

Probiotics help regulate blood sugar levels, improve insulin sensitivity, and reduce inflammation. They also support the health of the gut microbiome, which is important for overall health.

Given all of these potential benefits, it’s worth considering adding probiotics to your diet if you have diabetes. Talk to your doctor or dietitian to see if probiotics are right for you.

Nutrition Information for my Blood Orange Guava Mocktail

This mocktail clocks in at only 8 grams of carbohydrates, so you can enjoy it without worrying about too much of a spike.

How to make a Blood Orange Guava Mocktail

This drink is very easy to make, and doesn’t take too much time, or effort.

Start by filling a coupe glass with ice. This helps to chill the glass and the drink without watering it down.

Pouring ice into a coupe glass

Then, dump the ice out once the glass looks frosty.

Pour in your So Good So You Probiotic shot directly into the glass.

Pour over 6 ounces of lime La Croix. You can reserve the rest, or sip on it separately.

Then, to garnish, roll mint leaves between your hands, to release the fragrance, and top the drink with mint.

Notes

  • I love this mocktail in a coupe glass, but you can put it into a champagne glass as well for the effervescence.
  • If you decided to add alcohol to this, rum would be a great choice here.
